R990 is a yearly subscription, paid once for the year. Against R99 a month, that is two months free. None of the others publishes a yearly price, so their year is twelve of their months. Rounded to the rand.

Every figure comes off the vendor's own published pricing page, checked 26 August 2026, with VAT added where a vendor quotes without it. Above the headcount a vendor's page reaches, we carry that vendor's own per-person rate forward.

This lists only vendors who publish a price, so it is not a survey of the whole market.

What the R99 covers

The whole month, not a starter tier.

There is one plan. Nothing below is an add-on, a module or a seat you buy separately.

  1. Delivery

    Payslips go out with the run

    The run that pays everyone is the run that sends the payslips, by email or WhatsApp, whichever each person has. No export, no monthly CSV, and no second system in the middle.

  2. The run

    Run the month with one button

    Set the cycle, the deductions and the benefits once, and they stay where you put them. Add an overtime line or a once-off bonus when the month needs it.

  3. Tax

    PAYE, UIF and SDL, worked out

    Per employee, per cycle, at the current rates. You do not keep the rate tables and there is no spreadsheet formula to break in March.

  4. SARS

    EMP201, EMP501 and IRP5s

    The EMP201 is generated and tracked to the payment. The UIF declaration, the annual EMP501 and every IRP5 come out of the same place at year end.

  5. Payday

    A bank file, not an evening of typing

    The payment file for your bank falls out of the run, so paying everyone is an upload.

  6. Staff

    Leave and self-service

    Annual, sick and family leave accrue on their own. Staff sign in with their ID number, fetch payslips and apply for leave. Managers sign off in the same place.

More than 50 people

We built this for small payrolls. Yours has outgrown it.

Pay is for payrolls up to 50 people, and it is priced that way. When you need more than that, or more than a simple payroll, you want our sister company.

EJM is our sister company, and Pay is built on their platform. The People and Payroll module handles the complicated end: staff loans, industrial council deductions, custom formulas for earnings and provisions, mixed workforces, casual labour and subcontractors, across Southern Africa.

Growing out of Pay does not mean starting over. Your payroll history goes with you, so there is nothing to export, nobody to re-capture, and no month of running two payrolls side by side.

What people ask before they switch

What does E·BIZI Pay cost?
R99 a month, including VAT, for your whole payroll. Paying yearly costs R990, which works out to two months free. There is no setup fee and no contract, so you can stop whenever you like. The first 30 days are free.
Do you charge per employee?
No. Most South African payroll software runs a meter per employee per month, so the bill climbs every time you hire. Ours does not. R99 covers the payroll whether you pay three people or 50.
How many employees can I pay?
Pay is built for payrolls up to 50 people. That is the small-business end of the market, and it is what the price is set for. Above 50 people, our sister company EJM runs a full payroll system that fits better.
What happens when we grow past 50 people?
Your EJM setup starts from the team you already have on Pay, so nobody gets re-captured and no payslip history is left behind. Run the month you are in on Pay, then start the next one on EJM. There is no overlap month.
Is there a free trial?
Yes, 30 days. Add your team, run a full cycle and send real payslips before you pay anything. Nothing changes at the end of the trial except that the subscription starts.
Does it work out PAYE, UIF and SDL?
Yes, per employee and per cycle. Pay also generates the EMP201 for SARS, tracks it to the payment, handles the UIF declaration and the annual EMP501, and produces IRP5s at year end. You do not keep the rate tables. We do.
Can my staff get their own payslips?
Yes. Every employee gets a self-service portal, and their ID number is how they sign in, so there is no password to hand out or reset. Payslips also go out on WhatsApp or email with the payroll run itself.
